Welcome to Year 3/4,
We are made up of three classes with Mrs Broom, Mrs Timmins and Mrs Ridgeway as our teachers. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Slater and Mrs Nock supporting us in class. We are a fun, hard-working year and we are looking forward to the exciting journey ahead of us.

We are reading the story Stig of the Dump, by Clive King. Click on the picture to hear the first part of the story:
Useful information: PE is on a Friday morning for classes 3/4T and 3/4R and on a Thursday morning for 3/4B. Please watch out for the dates of when year 4 children will be swimming after Christmas. Children will be exploring other areas of the PE curriculum throughout the year so will need to make sure they have the correct PE kit in school every day.
Spelling: Your child is given a spelling test each week. They will be either working at the bronze, silver, gold or platinum level. They cannot move on to the next level until they have learnt all the spellings. Please find attached the spellings for both year groups.
Homework: Your child will be given a homework book which will be sent home on a Tuesday and will need to be returned by the following Monday. Each term children will have a topic themed project as well as weekly literacy or numeracy tasks.
Reading: It is very important that you hear your child read as often as possible. In Year 3/4 we encourage the children to choose their own books to take home. Every Wednesday we will have our DEAR (drop everything and read) where parents are invited into our classrooms at 3pm to read with your child and help them choose a new book to read. Also keep a look out for our exciting reading competitions that will take place throughout the year.
Tuck Shop: Now that the children and in Key Stage 2 they are allowed to visit the tuck shop at break time. There will be a variety of healthy choices available including water and milk. Children will not need any more than 50p per day and this money is their responsibility.
Projects due in- Friday 19th October
Stone Age Day
Year 3/4 took part in a Stone Age Day experience where they lived as day in the Stone Age. They made felt cloths which we are putting together to make a wall hanging and they saw a replica Stone age village tent with some authentic items. They also played some stone age games. Here are some pictures from the day.
